Your Partner Roster Is Long. Your Results Slide Is Short.
The next useful addition to your program starts with finding the right candidates. See who's confirmed for AGS Rome and use the Welcome Kit to plan the conversations worth pursuing.
Picture the review you'd like to have.
Not the one you usually have, with forty slides and a variance explanation and an attribution caveat on every chart. The short one. A partner you recruited launched in the quarter. The orders came through in a column that didn't need a footnote. You walked through the evaluation you'd agreed before launch, said what the next step was, and the person at the end of the table said "good find" and moved on to someone else's problem.
That's imagined dialogue, but you know the feeling it describes, because it's the thing this job is for. Nothing fancy. It worked, it could be measured, nobody argued. And the reason it's rare has nothing to do with your ability to run a program.
The roster is long. The slide is short.
Look at the partner list on the dashboard. It's healthy. Dozens of active partners, maybe hundreds. And you know, without opening the report, how many of them sent anything last month.
That's the actual complaint, and it isn't that inbound never produces anything good. Sometimes it does. It's that a registered partner and a productive partner are two different things, and the dashboard counts them the same. So the program looks bigger than it is, the review takes longer than it should, and the one column that would end it early doesn't exist yet.
What you want isn't more partners. It's one more partner who belongs on the slide.
What makes a candidate worth qualifying
Here's where it's worth being precise, because "good partner" is as vague as "networking".
A candidate worth your time has customers you'd want and don't currently reach. They work in the markets your business is actually pushing into, not the ones you've saturated. Their economics work: the payout they expect fits inside a margin that still leaves something for you after refunds. And their traffic approach is one you can explain to finance without wincing: you know how they reach people, and you'd be able to identify which orders were new.
Those four things are what a first conversation establishes. Not a deal. Whether it's worth a second conversation. Ten focused minutes with the offer, the payout you can afford, your geos and your honest cold-traffic conversion, and you'll know whether this is a candidate or a logo.
Where candidates are, without pretending to know the winner
Affiliate Grand Slam is in Rome from 2 to 5 November at Fiera Roma, and the floor is built around the partner types that end up on results slides.
Two examples with the role stated. MaxWeb and TerraLeads are networks that run consumer offers to their own traffic and partners; a conversation with one is about which of your offers suits them, which markets they support, what payout they expect and what a launch needs from your side. ClickBank and Digistore are marketplaces where affiliates browse and choose offers; the conversation there is listing requirements, offer fit and commercial model. Also confirmed: MGID and Outbrain on native, PlatformPay on payments, TikTok, Meta and Google exhibiting with staff. On stage, operators from the brand side, Marisha Lakhiani of Mindvalley and Nick Shackelford of Brez among them.
Nobody can tell you which of those, if any, becomes the partner on your slide. A list of confirmed companies identifies candidates; it doesn't locate a winner. What it does is let you qualify several candidates in one trip, with the product and the numbers in front of you, instead of one at a time across a quarter of unanswered emails.
A growth lead wrote, after a trip that worked: "I had 7 meetings locked in before I even got on the plane to my last one. Honestly made the whole trip feel different." That's what a shortlist does. It turns a conference into a set of qualifications.
The kit does the selection work
The AGS Rome 2026 Welcome Kit for Growth & Affiliate Teams starts with who you could meet and why they matter, by partner type. Read it with the four qualifying questions above and mark the candidates.
Then the part built for this piece specifically: the Best Value for Money Guide's shortlist worksheet and outcome plan. The worksheet gives each candidate a row: company, commercial fit, the question you'd ask, the next step you'd want, confirmation status. The outcome plan keeps the stages honest: requests sent, requests accepted, meetings held, next steps agreed, evaluations or trials started, and only then, results. That's the structure of the short review, written before you go.
The guide also does the money: which pass includes the access your shortlist needs, what each tier includes, and the whole trip budget. And the kit's Justification Memo, with event facts filled in and space for your targets and costs, is there when you're ready to propose. It's a supporting document here, not the point.
Once you've purchased a pass and meeting access is available, you request the candidates on your shortlist. Accepted requests form your itinerary. What you come home with is a set of evaluated candidates and agreed next steps, which is what the slide is made of three months later.
The short review starts with the shortlist
You can't recruit the partner on the slide from a dashboard that counts everyone the same. You can find candidates, qualify them properly, and follow through. That's what the kit is for.
